In 1966 Ilene Berns introduced him to me “as a young singer song writer from New York”. My KQV was among the first to introduce his “Solitary Man” to America. Then came “Cherry Cherry”, “Girl, You’ll be a woman soon” and when I moved to WLS, “Thank the Lord for the Night Time”, “Kentucky Woman”, “Sweet Caroline”and a “WLS WORLD PREMIERE” of “Holly Holy” in 1969.
He never forgot, inviting me to a seat next to John Lennon at Neil’s opening night at the Troubadour In Hollywood. Neil Diamond was now a superstar.
