We talked just a few weeks ago, he called to say his long deteriorating health had improved. As a author of books, he said, “Looks like I’ll have time for another book my friend”. We became friends in the early 60’s when he was in Knoxville and he was delighted when I called on him to join me at KFI in 1977. My having lived in the Black Hills in my early career, we related often about his life in Spearfish, South Dakota and his time teaching broadcasting at the local college there.
Dave Diamond was first to introduce one of rocks great bands, the Doors during his time in southern California radio. I never heard of anyone that didn’t like Davey.
Dave was 77 years of age. Rest in peace pal, I’ll miss you.
